2018 PoWR – Reconciliation for Loving Earth

On November 5, 2018, we held the last speech at the Parliament of World Religions (PoWR). The topic is named, “The Power of Love – Advancing towards Reconciliation”. We are approaching this topic from the ecological ethics point of view to see the co-existence between mankind and the ecosystem.
Earth is our common home. Without Earth, we cannot exist. When we destroy the environment, all the different species will gradually extinct. The days of our human survival will be numbered.

This assembly has been promoting global ethics for the last 25 years. The time for reconciliation of all beings is right now. The world needs peace and the survival of all is the most important. Without safe conditions to support life, peace is not possible.

We need to care for Earth just as we care for our own home. I urgently call on each and one of us to promote the “globalized ecological ethics” and to put it into practice.

We need to move towards co-existence and diversity in order to achieve true reconciliation and peace. It is our responsibility to pass on a safe and positive environment to the next generation.

How do we practice “respect”? By not destroying harmony. How do we practice “inclusion”? By accepting differences. How do we practice love? By loving all beings. These are the principles of life.

We all know that Earth is suffering. We all rely on the resources of Earth to live. Manmade conflicts and wars, as well as the consumption and exploitation of natural resources – have all severely damaged the ecosystem. With increasing phenomena of earthquakes and volcano eruptions – it is a sign that the Earth is trying to heal and rebuild itself.

Due to global warming and climate change, we now increasingly experience extraordinarily heavy rainfalls that are causing floods. And we all experience fire and draught caused by the rising temperature.

Hurricanes make people lose their homes and lives just overnight. All these are the crisis that affects all of us. No one is exempted anymore. Nobody can afford to look away.

We need to urgently establish globalized ecological ethics on the basis of global ethics. Let us connect with each other with love and re-establish a harmonious relationship between us human beings and the Earth.

It is important for us to be able to return to our spiritual essence and to learn from the wisdom of Indigenous People, how to live with nature. We also need to find out the true reason for the disappearance of ancient civilizations.

20181107-reconciliation-for-loving-earth-3Right now, we are planning to establish a University for Life and Peace to discover the root of the ecological crisis, as well as to find practical ways to solve it – so that we can reach reconciliation between human beings and Earth. That way, we all can become one global family. The University is in Myanmar.

All religions have in common are virtues, compassion, and love. We are all brothers and sisters, and we should treat each other with holiness.

When we share the same vision, we can form a power of resonance to transform hearts and mind to mitigate present crisis.

I pray that all of us may have a spiritual awakening. May the Earth continue to flourish and that we all live in harmony, supporting and helping each other.
