Lifetimes with Guan Yin

The Great Compassion Mantra (Long Dharani) is part of my daily practice. I’d encourage all students to do the same. By the compassionate aspiration of Guan Yin (Avalokiteshvara), let us pray for the shared environment, Earth, to be in peace.
20190409-Lifetimes-with-Guan-Yin-2While we pray for Earth, us practitioners of Dharma Doors of Guan Yin (Avalokiteshvara) should also be active, positive, optimistic, and loving in daily life. Our surrounding, family, and colleagues would also be influenced to be happy. Love is the source of all happiness. Without love, this world is a dry river without a trace of moisture. So we should shower every friend and sentient being with love at all times.
The compassion of Guan Yin irrigates and liberates us. This is what we aspire to emulate. Care for Earth and lives with the great love of faith. Guan Yin is a bodhisattva who loves and safeguards all sentient beings. As we’ve learned about the teachings of Guan Yin, everyone should “live to serve, dedicate life to lives”. Deliver the compassionate aspiration of Guan Yin to every corner in the world.
In Guan Yin’s prayer, we can see the benefit of reciting the Great Compassion Mantra (Long Dharani):
“If I face a mountain of knives, may it naturally crumble.

If I face a roaring fire, may it naturally burn out.

If I face hell, may it naturally disappear.

If I face a hungry ghost, may it naturally be satiated.

If I face an Asura, may its evil heart gradually become tame and,

If I face an animal, may it naturally obtain great wisdom.”

By reciting the Great Compassion Mantra, we can transcend the cyclic rebirth of the six realms. Furthermore, to be in the auspicious realm of the Pure Land.
20190409-Lifetimes-with-Guan-Yin-3I’d encourage everyone to visit the shrine hall often to prostrate, immerse yourself, and practice together. Shrine hall is where we can nurture our virtues, purify our stains, and encourage one another. As a Buddhist, one should not only be concerned with oneself. Influence others to practice Dharma. Having one more person practicing Dharma, there would be one less villain in the world. Having one more person propagating Dharma, seeds of hell are lessened. Faith is not a decoration but a life-time partner. When illness strikes, breakups happen, faith stays with us. When dying, faith accompanies us. It has gone through this life and many lifetimes with us. It has been through unpleasantness and troubles with us. Lastly, our life becomes more brilliant with faith.
