出離心就是出離所有的貪著,才能夠斷煩惱、斷生死,找到不生不滅的地方。
“Renunciation” is to renounce greed and attachments. That way we can cut through afflictions, living and dying – returning to the state free of arising and ceasing.
因果是心念來的,每一個心念就是因果,學佛的生命建立在正覺、正知,相信因果勤行善,為利眾生具佛法。
Karma is the product of mind; every thought is karma. Dharma practice is built on right awareness and right understanding. Do not doubt the law of karma and be diligent in cultivating virtuous deeds for the benefits of sentient beings.
從發心到成佛,對每個眾生做出奉獻跟服務,做出不危害的事情,這就是佛法講的生命道理,也就是菩薩道。
From the aspiration of bodhicitta to the attainment of Buddhahood, strive to benefit others and refrain from doing harmful actions. This is a central principle of Buddhism; it’s the bodhisattva path.
服務即精進,服務就是一種供養。To offer service is diligence and service itself is a type of offering.
生命就像一部車,方向盤要掌控好,開往無盡生命的道路上,遇到不好的惡業,要剎車,遇到善業的時候,油門就要加快。
As we drive down the long road of life, we need to keep our eyes on the road and our hands on the wheel, so that we continue to move in the right direction and avoid the potholes of nonvirtues.
在現象上,要把因果做好;在出離上,要把無我做好。
On the phenomenal level, do best on the causes. On the level of renunciation, practice emptiness with your best.
無所住生其心,無住而空,滅除一切的生滅心,才能到達寂靜涅槃。
Let the mind arise without abiding, for non-abiding is the way of emptiness; eradicate the mind of arising and ceasing—this is how to realize the serenity of nirvana.
不實在的事物,要能常常觀空,尤其是煩惱。The unreal things should be comprehended as emptiness , especially those of afflictions.
戒就是生活的規矩,定就是調伏自己的心,活在當下,慧就是多聽多聞,消化執著跟障礙。
Ethical discipline is the living regulations. Stabilization is the taming of mind. Living in the present moment. Last but not least, hearing and contemplating help to cultivate wisdom that ameliorates attachments and obscurations.
生命是永恆的耕耘,是成佛的志業。
Life is the field in which we continually cultivate the seeds of Buddhahood.
擁有「我」的時候,是不慈悲的,我不見的時候,就會慈悲。
The presence of “self” is an obstacle to acts of compassion; when “self” is absent, compassion arises.
常常恆順,就是別人想生氣也沒辦法生氣,業少福就大。When you always support peoples, they deliberately refrain from getting irritated. Consequently you confront less inevitable results and more blessings to come.
阿含是解剖緣起,緣起性空,般若則是性空緣起,就是在空性裡做利益眾生的事情。
In the study of Agama, we learn to analyze dependent arising whereas prajna wisdom is to bring forth benefits to sentient beings within dependent arising and emptiness.
學佛修行,當以空為自性,以空為自度。Buddhists practise stems from the nature of emptiness of its followers. The advancement towards enlightenment requires followers to maintain this nature of emptiness.
我們的靈性與物質粘著在一起就變成混沌,混沌就不能解脫;禪修就是沉澱,沉澱之後靈性就能出離。
When our spiritual qualities are mingled with materials, the product is a mixture of confusions – which cannot lead us towards liberation. Therefore, we need to precipitate through Chan practice so our spirituality can be extracted.
心就是我們的故鄉。Our mind is where we belong.
般若就是處理思惟、見解,把思惟障礙消除,破知見的障礙。
The prajna wisdom is applied to thinking process to uproot obscurations.
生從何來,死從何去?生是從因果來,死是到因果去,把因做好,就能夠創造好的生命。
Where were we before birth? Where do we go after death? Both are decided by individual karma. Learn to generate good causes and they can come positively in lives.
奉獻是生命的真理,智慧的解脫是生命的快樂。
Generosity is the truth of life; liberating wisdom is the joy of life.
起心動念生起一個善心,起心動念都是供養。Every thought with good intentions is making offerings to Buddha.
在生命的網絡裡,給予是最大的贏家,最富有的人就是能給的人。
In this knitted complex network of life, those who give are the wealthiest winner.
回到靈性的時候,不是把物質丟掉,而是物質不再是困擾,物質是被你所用,不是物質用了你。
Returning to our spirituality doesn’t imply abandoning possessions. In fact, materials are no longer hindrances but effective tools for your utilization.
自律是學佛修行的本分,如果做不好,就是得失心、好壞心、是非心。
Self-discipline is the foundation of spiritual practice, without which you’ll be hampered by thoughts of gain and loss, good and bad, right and wrong.
懺要懺到空才行,懺到空性就可以解決問題,懺到有跟沒有,就沒完沒了。
Contrition should be continued until emptiness is actualized – where problems can be solved.
沒有覺知跟覺知沒有,沒有覺知就是惑業,覺知沒有就是解脫,一念之間就是生死,一念之間就是證悟。
“No awareness” implies a deluded state whereas “becoming aware of” is leading towards liberation. One thought can determine the state of delusion or enlightenment.
學佛要學空性,空性就不生不滅,不會患得患失,不在是非好壞、善惡裡計算。
Dharma practice is to learn about emptiness, the state of non-arising and non-ceasing. One would no longer feel anxious about gaining or losing, judging betterment or worsening.
修行躁急則易退道。When learning Buddhism, remember "More haste less speed".
世界有屬世的世間法與屬靈的出世間法,追求屬靈需要覺醒,覺醒才能夠離開世間一切的迷執惑亂,得到解脫。
There are pursuits on the level of Relative Truth and Absolute Truth. To pursue non-secular spirituality requires awakening so one can distance away from attachments and delusions. Freedom is acquired at last.
愛心是生命中最大的陽光,從愛心找到溫暖、人情味,找到心靈的春天。
Loving kindness is the most brilliant sunshine in life. Rediscover warmth and hospitality – the spring of our mind.
禪,從參開始悟,悟就明,從明裡處理問題。
Chan begins from examining to understanding. With understanding, there comes clarity. Then, we begin to solve problems with clarity.

生活就是想法,想法就是記憶體,行為因為想法而產生;思想對了,一切對,思想不對,記憶就會混亂。
Living is thinking, the karmic memory drive. Behaviours are produced by ideas. With appropriate thinking, there comes proper conducts. On a contrary, improper thinking would only result in chaotic karmic memories.
我們被現象跟想法束縛,所以不能自在、解脫,不能離苦得樂,要了解現象而超越現象,證悟本來面目,實踐空有不二的生命緣起。
We are confined by phenomena and subjective ideas that hold us back from ease, liberation, and the ultimate happiness. We must understand the working of phenomena and transcend them. This is to actualize the dependent arising – the inseparability of emptiness and existence.
多元共生就是不衝突,靈性以外都是共生的,多元是相依共存,每一個人對生命都有所貢獻。
Interdependence implies non-conflicting. Diversity relies on interdependence where every individual is contributive to this world.
學佛要生生世世依止三寶,依止佛法僧,佛法僧就是道路、就是老師、就是成就佛的基因。
Practicing Dharma is to take the Three Jewels as our refuge in the present and lifetimes to come until enlightenment. The Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are the guidance, path, and the basis towards Buddhahood.
大悲咒具足觀音菩薩智慧的事業,能將一切性空的種子、作用,轉化成覺悟眾生的事業。The Great Compassion mantra consists of the wisdom and experience of Guanyin. It provides all sentient beings with the path to enlightenment.
念頭就是輪迴,怎麼讓念頭不輪迴,這是禪修的目的。
Subjective ideas are the causes of cyclic reincarnations. The purpose of Chan practice is about finding a way to cease the ideas of samsara.
自律是學佛修行的本分,如果做不好,就是得失心、好壞心、是非心。
Self-discipline is the foundation of spiritual practice, without which you’ll be hampered by thoughts of gain and loss, good and bad, right and wrong.
煩惱就像垃圾一樣,要丟在垃圾桶,丟在空性的垃圾桶,就不會覺得有負擔。
Afflictions are like garbage to be disposed. However, if they are placed properly in the “bin of emptiness”, your mind is lightened with ease.
心不跟隨現下煩惱,不隨就不會生滅。
Don’t let your mind follow the present afflictions. Not following, there is no arising and ceasing.
「廣修供養」,去除貪瞋癡就要養成「給」,一直不斷給,一直給,養成不慳貪的習慣。
“To make abundant offerings” helps to eradicate the Three Poisons by “generous giving”. Make generosity a lifelong habit.
學佛就是學智慧、學慈悲,智慧就是解脫煩惱,慈悲就長養福氣、長養善緣。
Practicing Buddhism is to cultivate wisdom and compassion. Wisdom leads to liberation; compassion nurtures merits and making positive connections.
我們會迷失在黑暗中,黑暗就是生活中點點滴滴的善惡業,只要把妄念、執著放下,就超越了善惡業,也就超越了輪迴。
We get lost easily in the darkness made up of virtuous and nonvirtuous deeds. Once we let go of afflictions and attachments, we’ve transcended karmas and cyclic reincarnations.
為什麼要念經?念經的時候,心念就會被經文所淨化,洗滌所有的妄想執著。
Why do we recite sutras? It is so our mind becomes purified with the scriptures of compassion and wisdom.
心不要作用,就是放下。
When the mind is non-reactive, it is letting go.
學習佛法是讓心融入虛空,納受世界上所有的東西,這就是生命的智慧。
Dharma practice allows one’s mind to integrate into the universe and be receptive of all elements. This is the wisdom of life.
心會造想法,好的想法就好的基因,好的記憶;壞的想法就是壞的基因,壞的記憶。
The mind fabricates various thoughts. Virtuous thoughts generate positive genes and memories. Needless to say, non-virtuous intentions result in negative genes and imprints.
科技的發明讓地球毀壞,因此,我們要換一個角度,用愛地球的心態、人類永續的心態,做和平的事情。
The destructive use of technology is endangering the earth. Therefore we should take a different perspective to love, sustain, and carry out peace for our environment.
最大的痛苦,是自我的成見,人最大的苦惱就是計較。The great suffering comes from self-obsession. The deepest affliction arises from arguing over trivial things.
學佛要學空性,空性就不生不滅,不會患得患失,不在是非好壞、善惡裡計算。

生命唯一的道路就是造善業,廣結善緣是努力的方向。
The only path of life is to engage in virtuous acts. Make positive connections with your best effort.
人生要有願力,有願力就有使命,有使命,願景、目標就有,生命方向就找到了。
Be aspired with life. One will find the mission, aspiration, and goals of living.
禪定就是調心,讓心安定,心安定才能啟發智慧。
Meditative stabilization aims to tame and stabilize the mind which then wisdom can arise.
沒有覺知是惑業,覺知沒有就是解脫,一念之間就是生死,一念之間就是證悟。
Without awareness there come delusions. Becoming aware of the absence of inherent existence is liberating. With one thought, you can either be enlightened or to remain in samsara.
世間所有的一切都是圓滿的,沒有一個不圓滿,不圓滿都是因為用分別心去看。
Everything in this world is wholesome and perfect. If you find something unsatisfactory, it is due to the perspective seen through the lenses of discriminatory.
般若是空一切的「有」、也空一切的「無」,就是觀照實相,實相就是沒有現象,透視一切都是空而無所有。
Prajna is both the “becoming” and “vanishing” aspects of emptiness. Examine the truth, which is to see the emptiness of all phenomena.
不怕驚濤駭浪,只怕道心不堅。A situation full of dangers is not terrible, what terrifying is not to have a strong will for Dharma practice.
