什麼叫智慧？就是要發菩提心，不發菩提心，就沒有覺悟的種子。 What do we call wisdom? Is to activate our bodhi citta, which if we do not, we will not achieve enlightenment.
每一個心結，同時也是解脫之處。Every mental knot is also an opportunity for liberation.
每一個種子、每一個記憶，都是生命中的富貴；所接觸的每一個人，高低大小、貧窮富貴，都是要耕耘的善緣。 Every activity and memory enriches our lives. Be sure to sow positive seeds in connecting everyone you come across – high status or low, young or old, rich or poor alike.
菩薩道就是一種奉獻的精神，要耐煩去做，這一生只有這件事是值得我們投資的。The path of Bodhisattva is the spirit of dedication. Be patient and practice all. This is the only thing worthy to invest in one's life.
在不生不滅、寂靜上安心，不去攀心念所接觸任何一個緣，每一個緣都把它放下，心就不受干擾，這就是定。 Settle down the mind in the state of non-arising or non-ceasing. Do not pursue any conditioned phenomena but to let it manifest and vanish. Stay immovable, you’ve just experienced stabilization (vipashyana).
「有」束縛我們，必須破除「有」的執著，超越物質的束縛才自在。 Holding on to an “inherent existence” binds us. Once this notion is negated, we can transcend the limitation of materialism to find freedom and ease.
〈大悲咒〉清理生命裡不乾淨的種子；《金剛經》用觀照的方法，回到空性的家；《普賢行願品》用十個方法學習成佛。 The Great Compassion Mantra purifies negative seeds; The Diamond Sutra investigates phenomena so to return to emptiness; The King of Aspiration Prayers teaches the ten collective practices leading to Buddhahood.
愛心是生命的潤滑油，沒有愛心就像春天沒有花朵。 Loving kindness is the lubricant of life. Without it, life is like a spring without blooming flowers.
生從何來，死從何去？生是從因果來，死是到因果去，把因做好，就能夠創造好的生命。 Where were we before birth? Where do we go after death? Both are decided by individual karma. Learn to generate good causes and they can come positively in lives.
禪，從參開始悟，悟就明，從明裡處理問題。 Chan begins from examining to understanding. With understanding, there comes clarity. Then, we begin to solve problems with clarity.
每一個起心動念都是在造因成果，生命的道路就是把因果做好。 Every rise of the mind has a karmic potency, so be sure to direct the mind towards that which is virtuous.
當我們覺得自私的時候，往往也是我們最痛苦的時候。When we are aware of our selfishness, it is the most painful moment in our lives.
多元共生就是不衝突，靈性以外都是共生的，多元是相依共存，每一個人對生命都有所貢獻。 Interdependence implies non-conflicting. Diversity relies on interdependence where every individual is contributive to this world.
華嚴叫大周天，阿含叫小周天，般若是通道、通路，法華就是種子的概念。 The Avatamsaka stage is called the greater circulatory cycle, the Agama stage is called the lesser circulatory cycle, the Prajna stage is the access route, and the Saddharma-Pundarika stage is the seed.
打坐，讓心聽話，慢慢聽到進入空性，空性就是沒有。 Meditation is a method of mind taming so it’d attain emptiness, a state free of an inherent existence.
沒有善業，無法學佛，要從善業開始做起，才會有善緣學佛。 Without the accumulation of merits and virtues, it would be difficult to practice Dharma. Start from cultivating virtues and positivity so one’s opportunities to practice Dharma might eventually occur.
真心即生善緣。 A genuine heart gives rise to positive connections.
念頭就是輪迴，怎麼讓念頭不輪迴，這是禪修的目的。 Subjective ideas are the causes of cyclic reincarnations. The purpose of Chan practice is about finding a way to cease the ideas of samsara.
有自尊就有困難。平常心才能學到東西。Never be rigid in your believes; yet be flexible and you can learn much more.
學佛就是觀念清楚，做對的事。 Practicing Buddhism means to think clearly and to act accordingly.
「請轉法輪」，請善知識說法，說法能夠洗滌所有的矛盾衝突，洗滌貪瞋癡、執著，把所有骯髒的東西都洗掉了。 “To request the Buddhas to turn the Dharma Wheel” is to beseech the Buddhas and spiritual guidance to elucidate the profound Dharma – the solution of purifying the Three Poisons and defilements.
心像一面鏡子，鏡子裡的東西是幻有，不是實有的，鏡子所顯現的東西不用取捨，只要取捨，就產生幻覺。 The mind is like a mirror. Whatever it reflects are illusions without intrinsic reality. There is no need to grasp or reject because once you do, you become deluded.
一切本就是圓滿，成也圓滿，敗也圓滿；一切好壞都是圓滿，現象雖有差別，但佛性本無差別。 All are ultimately perfect in nature. Accomplishments are perfect and so are failures. Whatever is positive or negative, it is just perfect. While there may be distinctions among phenomena, all beings possess the same Buddha nature.
生命要快樂就是要付出。 If you want to be happy in life, be a giver not a taker.
自覺覺他的心，自覺就是自己能夠反省、醒悟，覺他也就是讓別人醒悟，這就是發願成佛度眾生的心。 “Self-awakening” is the ability to introspect then actualize. “Awakening others” is the ability to help others enlighten – this is the aspiration for attaining Buddhahood.
《金剛經》就是分解一切東西都是沒有的，會分解就叫智慧，不會分解、不會觀照，就是創造有。 The Diamond Sutra dismantles our misconception about an inherent existence. Such dismantling is called “wisdom”. Without insightful wisdom, we begin to fabricate existence.
好與壞都是空性的變化裡，不要去抓，要回到不變的地方，不變是空性的本質，這才是真正的佛法。 Good or bad are merely the changing displays within emptiness. Do not try to grasp, return to the nature of emptiness instead. This is the authentic Dharma.
煩惱就像垃圾一樣，要丟在垃圾桶，丟在空性的垃圾桶，就不會覺得有負擔。 Afflictions are like garbage to be disposed. However, if they are placed properly in the “bin of emptiness”, your mind is lightened with ease.
學佛，要把因果做好，這是現象世界的準則；把空性做好，這是解脫自在的法則。 In practicing Buddhism, keep in mind that “cause and effect” is the functioning of this phenomenal world. In other words, by mastering “emptiness”, we ace the method towards liberation.
我們的靈性與物質粘著在一起就變成混沌，混沌就不能解脫；禪修就是沉澱，沉澱之後靈性就能出離。 When our spiritual qualities are mingled with materials, the product is a mixture of confusions – which cannot lead us towards liberation. Therefore, we need to precipitate through Chan practice so our spirituality can be extracted.

世間所有的一切都是圓滿的，沒有一個不圓滿，不圓滿都是因為用分別心去看。 Everything in this world is wholesome and perfect. If you find something unsatisfactory, it is due to the perspective seen through the lenses of discriminatory.
善惡業都是生滅的、變化不定的，要學習究竟的佛法，叫做覺醒的生活，覺醒就是不惑，就像一盞燈，就像太陽跟月亮，永遠不會迷失自己。 Virtuous and nonvirtuous deeds are arising, ceasing, and ever-changing. To learn the ultimate Buddhadharma is living an awakening life. “Awakening” means non-deluded. Like a lamp, the sun, or the moon that guides us forward, we’d never lose ourselves.
我們的習慣就是黏著，黏著就產生罣礙，有了罣礙就產生煩惱，阿含就是處理一切的黏著，把黏著的東西拿掉，獲得自由。 Our habitual tendency is grasping which results in obstacles. Hence, afflictions are produced. The study of Agama is to work through this habit and detach from afflictions for freedom.
靈性是水，現象是冰，空性充滿在一切物質裡，就像冰溶於水一樣。 Spiritual qualities are pliant like water; phenomena are formed like ice. Emptiness is pervasive in all matters, just like ice melting in water.
法是解脫我們所有的束縛，讓我們的想法清淨，讓想法改變我們的執著。 Buddhadharma unbinds us from all confinements by purifying our thoughts. We are therefore detaching from fixations.
放下就是快樂；慈悲就是福氣。 Letting go is happiness; compassion is good fortune.
佛陀之所以為佛陀，是因為覺悟而來的，心要開悟，才可能成佛。The way Shakyamuni becomes Buddha is because he has reached enlightenment. To attain buddahood, one has to acquire enlightenment.
念頭在心頭，不舒服；轉個念頭，心頭就開。 When a thought in your mind that makes you feel uncomfortable, just change that thought and your mind will feel comfortable.
守戒是守心，守心就是修行。 Upholding precepts means guarding one's mind which indicates cultivation.
心無質無相，對任何事沒有見取的作用。 The mind itself is immaterial and devoid of notions; attachment to views is not its inherent functions.
打坐慢慢看到心，把「有」的心化作無，「無」的心化作慈悲。 Through meditation, we can begin to have glimpses of our mind. Transform this mind from an “inherent existence” to emptiness, then to compassion.
沒有空性的智慧，布施只是結善緣，沒辦法斷煩惱、得到解脫自在。善只能是福氣，要解脫、斷煩惱，要學習空性的智慧。 Without the wisdom of emptiness, generous giving merely results in good merits and interpersonal connections. While kind acts accumulate into merits, we need to develop wisdom of emptiness to eradicate afflictions.
肯低頭的人，永遠不會撞到矮門。People who are humble will never meet with obstruction.
科技的發明讓地球毀壞，因此，我們要換一個角度，用愛地球的心態、人類永續的心態，做和平的事情。 The destructive use of technology is endangering the earth. Therefore we should take a different perspective to love, sustain, and carry out peace for our environment.
滿足是富，謙卑是貴。Contentment is the same as wealth; humility, nobility.
「普皆回向」，所有的好事都要分享給眾生，讓他們也得到好處，眾生就是我，我就是眾生，讓一切眾生能夠覺悟成佛。 “To dedicate merits to all sentient beings” is to share your virtues with all beings. All lives and I are the same and may all sentient beings attain Buddhahood.
人生要有願力，有願力就有使命，有使命，願景、目標就有，生命方向就找到了。 Be aspired with life. One will find the mission, aspiration, and goals of living.
心好，地球就會好，人類也會好；心如果壞了，地球就會壞，一切都壞。 Be kind, the world and people are kind to you. Be malicious, the world will crumble as a whole.
慈悲做到位是要無我，沒有我的慈悲，是圓滿的慈悲。 To fulfill perfect compassion is to be egoless.
學佛就是學習結好緣、結善緣，好緣善緣是我們現在的快樂、未來的福氣。 One aspect of Buddhism is learning to make positive karmic connections – which is our present delightfulness and future felicity.
口不講壞話就是結善緣；身不做壞事就是做好事；心存好心就沒有貪瞋癡，這三個是學佛的基本態度。 Refrain verbal nonvirtues are to make positive connections; refrain physical nonvirtues are to act kindly; refrain mental nonvirtues are to be devoid of greed, aversion, and ignorance. These three are the principles for Dharma practice.
捨不得就是慳貪，讓生命無法補充正能量；布施就是常常喜捨助人，讓心量擴大。 Clinging is a form of greed that prevents the replenishing of positive energy in life. On the contrary, generous giving is to put others’ welfare in priority – which will expand your mind and energize your life.
生命是用記憶體去輪轉，記憶體就是生命的導覽。 Life turns by our karmic memories which map out an individual’s life.
每一個見解都是虛幻不實的，見的地方就是被綁的地方，就是不自由的地方；「有」的地方，會不自由，「見」的地方也不自由。 All views are delusional where subjective understanding is in fact a sort of “binding”, a confinement.
給就是儲蓄，在每一個生命裡儲蓄給，好的給就是正能量，正能量的生命是陽光燦爛。 Giving is like depositing. Giving positive energy brings back brilliance to life like rays of sunshine.
覺悟就是勤觀察、勤檢討、勤耕耘，我們的心性才能夠顯現。To reach enlightenment, one must observe and check one's intention. In this way, his/her true self will be manifested.
學佛不是想法，是實踐，是體會，然後產生覺受。 Dharma practice doesn’t remain on an intellectual level of knowledge. It is through fulfilling, experiencing, and then realizing.
世界因不同而存在，因同而和諧。 The world comes into existence with diversity and unionized in harmony with commonalities.
佛性是每個人的心，所以自己就是主宰，沒有誰能主宰你。Buddha-nature is found in everyone; thus, you are the master of yourself and none can dominate you.
願成佛度眾生，在生命裡一直服務、一直奉獻，沒有一點私心。 Vowing to attain Buddhahood for the benefits of all beings means continually striving to benefit others, without any ulterior motives.
